between conventional and unconventional missions. He will discuss how
Lockheed Martin’s Engineering and Technology Enterprise is meeting this
challenge and what that will mean to the global electronics industry. Wilcox will describe the four
types of innovation the company is bringing to bear to engineer affordable solutions in the new
operational landscape.
Global Business Outlook: Where Do we Go Next?

Are the challenges of 2009 behind us? Walt Custer and IPC Director of Market Research Sharon Starr will team up to present the latest data and market trends for the electronics industry. Custer will cover electronics equipment and component markets, as well as business performance by the leading companies worldwide by industry sector. Starr will bring IPC survey data to the discussion to identify the latest trends in demand and production for worldwide PCB, EMS and supplier industries, as well as forecasts. Both speakers will comment on the challenging global economy and present some leading indicators, as well as note how seasonal and cyclical trends affect the industry and its supply chain.
Industry analyst Walt Custer is the president of Custer Consulting. Active in IPC since 1977, Custer serves on IPC’s Executive Market & Technology Forum Steering Committee and on the World Market Consensus Committee that produces the annual World PCB Production & Laminate Market Report for IPC members. He has been honored with both the IPC President's Award and Raymond E. Pritchard Hall of Fame Award. Custer is a frequent industry speaker and writes regular "Market Outlook" columns for CircuiTree, Global SMT & Packaging, and the TTI MarketEye Web site.
Sharon Starr directs IPC’s market research studies and statistical programs. She is responsible for expanding and globalizing many of these programs since she joined IPC in 2003. Starr spearheaded the cooperative efforts of the World Electronic Circuit Council (WECC) organizations, which now share data on the PCB industry and publish global statistics for their members. She also plans IPC’s Executive Summit conferences and facilitates IPC’s long-range planning process. Previously at Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for 15 years, Starr has held various management positions in marketing, strategic planning and business development.

Best in Test® Awards

The Best in Test Awards® have been presented annually since 1991 by the editors of Test & Measurement World. These awards honor important and innovative new products in the electronics test and measurement industry that were introduced within the last year. This year’s program also includes the “Test of Time” award which honors veteran products that have offered state-of-the-art performance for five years or more. In addition, we will announce the 2009 “Test Engineer of the Year” who was selected as an outstanding technical leader, as voted by the magazine’s readers. The winning engineer will designate an engineering school to receive a $10,000 grant, courtesy of National Instruments.
